TeleHealth can be a very effective way of managing your symptoms in the comforts and privacy of your own home. The virtual online sessions are one-on-one with your Osteopathic Manual Practitioner or Athletic Therapist. Each session will be tailored to your specific needs, allowing us the opportunity to assess and provide recommendations for you while practicing social distancing. The virtual system used at Ananta Wellness & Osteopathy is easy to use, and is safe and secure and can be accessed directly through your online booking account.
Is Telehealth covered under my health care plan?
Many extended health care providers, as well as, ICBC and WorkSafe are now supporting TeleHeath sessions. Since every provider and policy is different it is important to check with your provider if you are hoping to be reimbursed for your session.
What Telehealth can offer:
Acute Injury Assessment & Management – your therapist can virtually assess and provide appropriate recommendations. This may include: advise on self care (to effectively reduce pain or swelling), exercises, and whether you need to see your family doctor or require further diagnostic imaging (i.e. x-ray or scan).
Chronic Pain, Re-occurring or a Recent flare-up of an Old Musculoskeletal Injury Assessment & Management – your therapist can virtually assess and provide appropriate recommendations. This may include: self mobilization techniques, range of motion, stretch and stability exercises to further your healing. Your therapist can also offer suggestions for self care, education on how to manage the pain and offer online resources.
Stress / Tension – your therapist can give you advice on self care, relaxation techniques and online resources to help you. If it accompanies a headache, then specific tools can also be given to assist with reducing the tension, likely causing the headache.
Concussions – the therapist at Ananta use Head Check software to assess concussions in additional to manual hands of treatment. Given these unique circumstances, your therapist can give you advice on self care, activities to avoid and relaxation techniques. They can assist in developing a plan to return normal activities, work or sport when you are ready to do so. It would also be recommended that you do see your family doctor to assess and determine if you may require further diagnostic imaging.
Pre-Natal / Post- Natal – your therapist can virtually assess and provide appropriate recommendations. This may include: ideas on self care tips, exercises and positioning / postures that may help improve your comfort.
Home Workspace – a vast number of us are now working from home, but with that can come a handful of body aches and pains directly linked to the set-up of your work station. Your therapist can help you set up your workspace, provide tips on ergonomic support and give you advice on posture, but also stretching and range of motion exercises to help you maintain your body alignment while working at home.
