Cranio-Sacral Therapy
Cranio-sacral therapy is one of the many osteopathic manipulative techniques that may be used to effectively reduced symptoms of a wide range of issues in both children and adults. It stimulates healing by using a gentle pressure to treat the skeleton, membranous tissue and components of the central nervous system such as the brain and spinal cord. This subtle and rhythmic motion of the cranio-sacral unit is vital to an individuals overall health and is used to treat a number of conditions including: migraines and headaches, disturbed sleep, back and neck pain, irritable bowel syndrome, sinus infections, TMJ syndrome, vertigo, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), concussions, and children who have sustained birth or head trauma and experience symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Concussions
A concussion results from a force directed toward the cranium either as direct impact, a whipping motion, such as, whip-lash from a car accident or an axial force from a hard fall on your tail bone. The force causes an altered level of consciousness and results in neurologic dysfunction that impact an individual’s quality of life. Our team has extensive training in not only osteopathic manual techniques that can help to restore overall daily function but also concussion protocols for safely and successfully returning you back to sport or the workplace. Key factors that contribute to the success of rehabilitation involve removing the traumatic imprint, treating the areas of the body that are impeded the body to circulate all of its fluids and respecting the body limitations and healing timelines. Osteopathic manual techniques may include spinal mobilization, visceral manipulation and treatment of cranio-sacral unit such as the brain and spinal cord. If you are concerned about any medical pathology and /or head trauma, always consult your physician prior to exploring Athletic Therapy or Osteopathic Manual Therapy.
Digestion
Our team will provide a holistic Osteopathic and Athletic Manual Therapy approach to improve your digestive health. Some common symptoms our team has experience treating are irritable bowls, bloating, constipation, sluggish digestion, gastrointestinal pain and symptoms of burning or acid reflex. The Osteopathic Manual Therapy approaches are successful by understanding the cause and not just solely the symptoms you are experiencing. The osteopathic practitioner will consider the structural and bio-mechanical contributors, as well as, the emotional and biochemical influences. The symptoms you are feeling may be a result of an imbalance in any or all three of these areas and how they all interrelate with one another. Osteopathic manual therapy techniques may improve overall motility, mobility and circulation of the digestive system, while appreciating the osteopathic philosophy that the body has a natural ability to self-regulate and heal itself. If you are concerned about any medical pathology and /or disease, always consult your physician prior to exploring Athletic Therapy or Osteopathic Manual Therapy.
Trauma - Somatic Experiencing
Somatic experiencing sessions can release unresolved traumatic experiences held in the body and supports the body’s natural ability to regulate itself, which is key to transforming physical and emotional symptoms that may be related PTSD, chronic stress/fatigue, health conditions or complex syndromes, emotional wounds, pain and early developmental trauma. SE assists in the discharge of the high levels of energy stored in an unresolved fight/flight response and/or conversely, mobilizes a collapsed freeze response held in body.
